University of Nebraska-Lincoln - Water Center Director and Water Scientist -

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln is seeking candidates for the position of Water Center Director and Water Scientist to provide leadership for program development in the water sciences and related areas. Established in 1964, the Water Center has assisted the University of Nebraska in becoming an international leader in water research, teaching, extension, and outreach. The Center Director facilitates faculty research across all campuses and promotes university programs aimed at increasing the visibility of researchers who study water and agricultural water use. UNL has more than 100 faculty in multiple disciplines working in the broad fields of water science. The successful candidate will direct use of internal resources, including significant budgets and staff assigned to the Water Center. The candidate will also help build interdisciplinary faculty teams addressing significant water issues facing Nebraska water stakeholders and the world. Key aspects of the position will include networking with local stakeholders, catalyzing new science initiatives, and promoting university water programs. Reporting to the Director of the School of Natural Resources, the Water Center Director will have both an administrative and faculty assignment and be influential in the establishment and direction of other UNL water initiatives. This position requires a Ph.D. in an appropriate discipline and extensive professional experience in water-related research, education, and outreach, with sufficient experience to qualify for an academic rank of associate or full professor in an appropriate department. This is a 12-month, tenure track position.
