Job Title: Principal (Geoscience)
Department: Geoscience
Location: Houston
Reports to: Managing Director
Job Summary: Provides technical knowledge, experience and expertise associated with one or a number of specialized topics associated with challenging non-routine projects; makes presentations to clients; works with senior staff and provides specific input to project teams. Is expected to keep up to date with developing technology within field / fields of specialization and to pioneer and champion new technological advances to the benefit of FGCI and to promote the application of developing technology directly to Clients and through publishing technical papers.

Key Responsibilities:
• Responsible for one or a number of specialized topics associated with marine geoscience, based upon knowledge, experience and expertise
• Develops areas of specialization to the optimum benefit of FGCI
• Provides specialized input into projects as and when required
• Provides responsive technical advice to clients and assumes technical and legal responsibility for all self-completed projects/reports
• Maintains good technical and professional reputation with FGCI client base
• Stays current on areas of specialization and for informs management of the significance of technological developments
• Develops opportunities for providing specialized consultancy directly to Clients and / or developing opportunities for project development by other senior FGCI staff.
• Promotes specialized knowledge (including new or improved technologies, techniques, and other technical innovations) both internally within FGCI and sister Opcos as well as externally to Clients
• Pursues opportunities to publish technical papers, preferably on project related topics
• May be required from time to time to take on the duties of a Senior Supervising Geoscientist if area of specialization is capable of generating a number of related projects
• Able to demonstrate the financial viability of area of specialization within context of FGCI’s P/L account
• Cultivates and maintains relationships with external consultants, academic institutions, special interest groups, regulatory authorities, and key technical personnel in sister OpCos pertinent to areas of specialization
Qualifications:
• M.S. degree or higher in geoscience. B.S. degree in geoscience accompanied by some relevant full-time professional industry experience may substitute for graduate degree. Some background in geophysics and/or engineering geology is preferred
• 20+ years in marine site investigations with experience interpreting most associated geophysical data types and involvement in multiple associated project types
• License to practice geoscience in Texas is preferred but not required
• Possesses one or more key technical specialist capabilities that add value to FGCI’s core business activities (i.e., specialist in key technical area; significant experience in related technical fields; substantial data acquisition field experience; etc.)
Computer Skills: Proficient user of MS Office Suite; appropriate skill level on computer software applications pertinent to areas of specialization
