Job Title: Supervising Geoscientist
Department: Geoscience
Location: Houston
Reports to: Senior Group Manager, Geoscience
Job Summary: Provides technical leadership, project management, and administrative support for marine geophysical site investigation reporting projects; responsible for multiple simultaneous projects; provides technical supervision of several geoscientists; and contributes to challenging, non-routine projects that require multi-disciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities:
• Oversees all daily activities of all project assignments, including geologic and geohazards mapping, characterization, analysis, assessment, and related reporting
• Accountable for ensuring technical accuracy, fulfilment of contractual obligations, and profitability of all projects assigned under his/her supervision
• Routinely interacts with clients on technical and administrative issues and carefully documents project communications according to FGCI procedures
• Provides responsive, accurate technical advice to clients in a timely manner
• Assumes technical responsibility for all reports conducted under his/her supervision and is responsible for marking reports with own Texas P.G. license seal
• All technical work is subject to management or peer review prior to publication
• Maintains a good technical and professional reputation with FGCI client base
• Recommends and champions development and application of new or improved technologies, data interpretation techniques, and other innovations
• Able to organize and lead technical seminars and training courses
• Responsible for contributing to annual and project staff performance reviews and other infrequent administrative activities related to resource management
• Expected to be 75% billable to projects (on average) during periods of high backlog
• Complies with QMS and HSE requirements
Qualifications: Licensed to practice geoscience in Texas and possesses M.S. degree or higher in geoscience. B.S. degree in geoscience accompanied by some relevant full-time professional industry experience and may substitute for graduate degree.
Experience: 7 years in marine site investigations including proven ability to be a technical leader on geoscience projects including some experience on deepwater field development projects
Computer Skills: Proficient user of MS Office Suite and CorelDraw; advanced skill level on many or most geoscience computer software applications available to FGCI
