Postdoctoral Research Scientist Position in Climate Dynamics, Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory of Columbia University

The Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory of Columbia University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Scientist position in climate dynamics, with specific interest in the role of the stratosphere in climate variability and change on timescales of week to centuries. The successful applicant will work under the joint supervision of Lorenzo Polvani, Richard Seager and Tiffany Shaw. The ideal candidate will be skilled in both numerical modeling and the analysis of models and observational data. Opportunities exist for collaborative work at the NOAA Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory in Princeton, NJ and the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, CO.

Candidates should have recently completed their PhD, or should expect to complete their requirements by March 2012, in atmospheric science or a related field.

Appointments will be for 1-year initially, with continuation contingent upon progress; renewal beyond two years is contingent on funding.
