IODP-USIO Accepting Diversity Internship Applications: Summer 2012

IODP-USIO Accepting Diversity Internship Applications: Summer 2012

The Consortium for Ocean Leadership is currently accepting applications for the Integrated Ocean Drilling Program - U.S. Implementing Organization (IODP-USIO) Diversity Internship initiative, which is designed to expose minority students at any U.S. university or college to careers in scientific ocean drilling by providing them with a 10 to 12-weekeducational and career-building experience at one of the institutions that comprises the IODP-USIO.

Two internship opportunities are available for the 2012 summer session: (1) Science Education and (2) Science Communications. Both internships will take place at the Consortium for Ocean Leadership in Washington, D.C., beginning in June 2012 (specific start and end dates are flexible).

The selected Intern(s) will work closely for 12-weeks (with the possibility of an extension if funding is available) with a mentor from the IODP-USIO’s Communications or Education group to help heighten the national and international visibility of IODP. IODP, one of the world’s largest international marine research programs, is dedicated to advancing understanding of Earth’s processes through scientific drilling of the ocean floor.
