Senior Staff Associate, RAPS # 0002587
CIESIN (Center for International Earth Science Information Network) at Columbia University located on the Lamont Campus in Rockland County, NY is seeking a Senior Staff Associate to participate in a dynamic team of natural, social, and data scientists addressing interdisciplinary environment and development issues. Candidate will contribute to projects focused on vulnerability and adaptation to climate change, environmental and societal indicators, environment/security connections, and Latin American studies. The position will involve field work in Latin America.
Bachelors degree and 8 years of relevant experience required, or a Masters degree and 4 years of relevant experience. Degree should be in geography, human ecology, or similar interdisciplinary program combining natural and social sciences. Proven experience required in working on environment and development issues, conducting field work overseas, and communicating through peer-reviewed publications and public speaking activities. Familiarity with geospatial and remote sensing data and processing required. Oral and written fluency in Spanish required; knowledge of Portuguese is a plus.
Annual salary will be commensurate with skills and experience. Columbia University benefits afforded with this Officer of Research position.
